Desferritriacetylfusigen induces strong iron deficiency in sensitive bacteria to block growth, with activity abolished by iron (III) addition. Desferritriacetylfusigen exhibits medium-dependent bacterial growth inhibition, with no or weak activity against yeasts and fungi. can be used for research on bacterial infection.
