PTGIR - prostaglandin I2 receptor Gene

Also Known as IP; PRIPR

Species: Homo sapiens

Gene Type: protein coding
Gene ID: 5739

About PTGIR

Cytogenetic location: 19q13.32 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 19:46,610,687-46,625,089 (from NCBI)

This gene has 6 transcripts (splice variants), 187 orthologues and 7 paralogues. Ubiquitous expression in brain (RPKM 50.8), placenta (RPKM 17.2) and 24 other tissues.

Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor family 1 and has been shown to be a receptor for prostacyclin. Prostacyclin, the major product of cyclooxygenase in macrovascular endothelium, elicits a potent vasodilation and inhibition of platelet aggregation through binding to this receptor.
