KLTWQELYQLKYKGI is a VEGF mimetic peptide designed based on the VEGF helix sequence 17-25, with the ability to activate VEGF receptors and exert pro-angiogenic biological activity. KLTWQELYQLKYKGI effectively promotes the attachment, spreading and proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells. KLTWQELYQLKYKGI enhances the proliferation, migration and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs). KLTWQELYQLKYKGI synergistically accelerates angiogenesis and bone regeneration in rat cranial defect models. KLTWQELYQLKYKGI can be used for the research of brain tissue engineering and traumatic brain injury repair and biomaterials for bone tissue engineering and bone repair.

Description
In Vitro
KLTWQELYQLKYKGI (7 d) upregulates the mRNA expression of VEGF, PECAW, and vWF and increases ALP activity and ALP mRNA expression in HUVECs[2].
KLTWQELYQLKYKGI (8 h) promotes the formation of capillary-like structures by HUVECs on Matrigel[2].
KLTWQELYQLKYKGI (5 mg/mL in hydrogel, 5-7 d) enhances the proliferation and migration of BMSCs[2].
KLTWQELYQLKYKGI (14 d) increases calcium deposition and upregulates the mRNA expression of Runx2, BMP-2, and Col 1α in BMSCs[2].

In Vivo
KLTWQELYQLKYKGI (5 mg/mL in gelatin-based blue-light-curable hydrogel, injected into cranial defects and cured with blue light for 2 min, 2 weeks) significantly enhances angiogenesis in the cranial defect area of rats[2].

Administration:Implanted into lesion cavity of traumatic brain injury (TBI) model in rats, once, 4 weeks
