Moxonidine activates imidazoline I₁ receptors and α₂ adrenoceptors, affecting oxidized low-density lipoprotein uptake. Moxonidine reduces atherosclerotic lesions and lowers blood pressure. Moxonidine can be used in the study of hypertension, heart failure, and atherosclerosis.
