Handling Instructions Technical Support

Pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-apiosyl-(1→2)β-D-glucoside is a lignan compound and a melanogenesis inhibitor with low cytotoxicity. Pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-apiosyl-(1→2)β-D-glucoside is isolable from the stem bark of Acer buergerianum (Acer buergerianum). Pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-apiosyl-(1→2)β-D-glucoside effectively inhibits the melanogenesis process in α-MSH (HY-P0252)-stimulated B16 melanoma cells. Pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-apiosyl-(1→2)β-D-glucoside exhibits extremely high safety towards normal cells, and serves as an ideal tool molecule for studying melanoma mechanisms and developing related whitening products.

In Vitro

Pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-apiosyl-(1→2)β-D-glucoside (compound 9) (10-100 μM) inhibits melanogenesis in α-MSH-stimulated B16 mouse melanoma cells, reducing melanin content to 40.9% of control at 100 μM, with weak cytotoxicity (80.6% cell viability at 100 μM)[1].
Pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-apiosyl-(1→2)β-D-glucoside (10-50 μM; 48 h) modulates melanogenic protein expression in α-MSH-stimulated B16 mouse melanoma cells, reducing tyrosinase and TRP-2 levels and increasing MITF and TRP-1 levels in a concentration-dependent manner after 48 h of treatment[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
