Description

Schisandrastemoside A (Compound 3) is a lignan found in the rattan stems of Schisandra chinensis. Schisandrastemoside A shows neuroprotective efect and protects cells against Amyloid-beta 1-42 (HY-P1363A)-induced neurotoxicity. Schisandrastemoside A can be used for the research of Alzheimer's disease[1].

In Vitro

Schisandrastemoside A (5-25 μM; 24 h) potently protects PC12 cells from Amyloid-beta 1-42 (HY-P1363A)-induced toxicity in a dose-dependent manner[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Viability Assay[1]

Cell Line: PC12 cells
Concentration: 5, 12.5, 25 μM
Incubation Time: 24 h ( with amyloid-beta 1-42 exposure)
Result: Increased cell viability to 54.7 ± 3.4% at 5 μM.
Increased cell viability to 62.8 ± 3.8% at 12.5 μM.
Increased cell viability to 82.1 ± 4.3% at 25 μM.
Produced statistically significant increases in cell viability relative to the amyloid-beta 1-42-only model group at 12.5 μM and 25 μM.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
