TCM-4COOH relies on aggregation-induced emission activity, and its carboxyl chelating group can bind to Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ to form insoluble aggregates, triggering fluorescence enhancement via restricting intramolecular motion (Ex/Em = 477/603 nm).
