Barucainide is an Ib-class anti-arrhythmic agent (moderately blocking sodium channel). Barucainide exhibits concentration-dependent inhibitory effects on the maximum upstroke velocity (Vmax) of Purkinje fibers and ventricular muscle in dogs. Barucainide significantly shortens the action potential duration (APD).
