ADCK5
ADCK5, also designated C5orf13, is the least understood of the five human AarF-domain kinase family proteins. It is predicted to localize to mitochondria and shares the family's AarF-domain architecture, yet no catalytic activity, substrates or knockout phenotypes have been described, and its link to Coenzyme Q biosynthesis is unconfirmed. Expression appears widespread at low levels. Given the family's mitochondrial and metabolic associations, ADCK5 is a candidate regulator of mitochondrial function awaiting characterization. Recombinant ADCK5 provides material for first biochemical analyses, such as nucleotide binding, autophosphorylation and interaction profiling, to define this orphan paralog.
