MAST2
MAST2, also called MAST205, is the MAST-family member most strongly tied to membrane trafficking and survival signalling outside the nervous system. It carries the subfamily signature of an N-terminal kinase domain, a central PDZ module and an extended C-terminal tail; the tail binds PTEN and limits its lipid-phosphatase function, which helps sustain PI3K-AKT output. MAST2 is found at recycling endosomes and the Golgi and contributes to sorting and recycling of receptors such as the beta2-adrenergic receptor and TLR4. It has also emerged in genome-wide kinase screens as a host factor required for replication of several viruses, making recombinant MAST2 useful for trafficking and host-pathogen studies.
