Sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate serves as a phosphate source for Pseudomonas aeruginosa acid phosphatase and its Q6 variant, enabling phosphorylation of L‑ascorbic acid to L‑ascorbate‑2‑phosphate. Sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate facilitates 99mTc labeling of human polyclonal IgG. Sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate can be used in research on musculoskeletal infections.

Biological Activity
Sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate (0.35 M; 40 h) supports wild-type PaAPase-expressing E. coli BL21 to produce an optimal AsA2P titer of 31.1 g/L at 24 h[1].
Sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate supports PaAPase variant Q6-expressing E. coli BL21 to achieve a 291.1% increase in rt/rh ratio and ~68% AsA conversion under the tested conditions[1].
Sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate (0.1M PBS; plasma; serum; 10-640 μM, 64 mM L-cysteine (HY-Y0337); 24 h) formulated 99mTc-IgG radiopharmaceutical remains stable for up to 24 hours, with no detectable IgG fragmentation or aggregation[2].
