23S rRNA (adenine2503-C2)-Methyltransferase

23S rRNA (adenine2503-C2)-methyltransferase (EC 2.1.1.192) contains a [4Fe-4S] cluster and belongs to the "radical AdoMet" (radical SAM) family. It employs a radical-based mechanism to methylate the adenosine residue using a CH? group derived from S-adenosyl-L-methionine, while retaining the hydrogen atom at the C-2 position of adenosine 2503 in the 23S rRNA.
