Description

3-Hydroxyproline is a non-glycosyl microbial α-glucosidase inhibitor. 3-Hydroxyproline is used in the research of diabetes (type 2 diabetes/non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus)[1].

In Vitro

3-Hydroxyproline (Compound 2) (1.5 mg/mL; 20 min pre-incubation, 40 min reaction incubation) potently inhibits Saccharomyces cerevisiae α-glucosidase (IC50 = 5.3 μg/mL), effectively inhibits rat intestinal α-glucosidase (IC50 = 100 μg/mL) and Bacillus stearothermophilus α-glucosidase (IC50 = 142 μg/mL), and shows no activity against rice α-glucosidase[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
