C2C12 is a mouse Myoblast spontaneously immortalized cell line derived from Skeletal muscle. Its spontaneous immortalization permits extended propagation while retaining lineage-associated properties. C2C12 is used to investigate cell proliferation and cell differentiation in a controlled cellular system.
