Definition:

Caco-2 is a human cancer cell line derived from Colon and associated with Colon adenocarcinoma. Its continuous tumor-cell growth supports reproducible mechanistic and pharmacological experiments. Caco-2 is used as an in vitro model of Colon adenocarcinoma to investigate cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, cellular uptake, and nanoparticle uptake and toxicity.
