CHO-FU

Definition:

CHO-FU, reported as CHO/FU, is a 5-fluorouracil-resistant mutant derived from Chinese hamster ovary cells; A PubMed-indexed study described the mutant as approximately 20-fold resistant to fluorouracil and used it to evaluate intracellular delivery and growth-inhibitory activity of fluorodeoxyuridine monophosphate prodrugs[1]. The evidence supports hamster ovary parentage, acquired drug resistance, and a representative pharmacological application, but does not establish the original CHO parental clone, selection protocol, morphology, or a repository accession. For database use, CHO/FU is therefore a partially characterized resistant subline; the slash form should be retained as an alias and provenance should be added before broader phenotype or mechanism claims.
