Definition:

H9c2 is a rat spontaneously immortalized cell line derived from Embryonic heart, cardiac muscle. Its spontaneous immortalization permits extended propagation while retaining lineage-associated properties. H9c2 is used to investigate apoptosis, oxidative stress, inflammatory signaling, mitochondrial function, gene-expression regulation, and hypoxic responses in a controlled cellular system.
