M14

Definition:

M14 is a human melanoma cell line used in studies of melanoma-associated surface antigens, telomere biology, invasion, and multidrug resistance[1-3]. M14 cells express a melanoma-associated 240-kDa glycoprotein recognized by monoclonal antibody 9.2.27; the drug-sensitive parental population is P-glycoprotein-negative, whereas the adriamycin-resistant M14 ADR derivative expresses P-glycoprotein and displays enhanced migration and invasion linked to CD44, ERK1/2, p38, and matrix metalloproteinases[1][3]. Experiments inhibiting TRF2 have also used M14 cells to investigate how telomere status modifies apoptosis and tumorigenicity[2], although the available PubMed papers do not establish donor or tissue-sampling details.
