Mayaro fever

Definition:

Mayaro fever is an infectious disease caused by Mayaro virus (MAYV), an alphavirus in the Togaviridae family of +ssRNA viruses, and transmitted by Haemagogus mosquitoes. MAYV was first isolated in 1954 in Trinidad.
