Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs)

Definition:

Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are involved in signaling processes induced by various stimuli, such as growth factors, stress, or even autoantibodies. MAPKs comprise three functional families, namely, Extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK)/stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK)and p38. MAPK signaling thus provides a versatile signaling module that regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, homeostasis and even cell.
