Definition:

Radioisotope is an energetically unstable atom that will achieve a stable or more stable, lower-energy state (transitioning from a parent to a daughter state) by releasing (radiating) energy (radiation), in some form (e.g., emitting a gamma ray, positron particle, or beta particle).
