Scrub typhus

Definition:

Scrub typhus, also known as tsutsugamushi disease, is a zoonosis caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, an obligate intracellular bacterium that is transmitted by the Leptotrombidium species mite. The disease is confined to East Asia and characterized by fever, rash, eschar, pneumonitis, meningitis, and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
