Definition:

Stimulator of interferon genes (STING), also known as transmembrane protein 173 (TMEM173) and MPYS/MITA/ERIS, is a protein playing an important role in innate immunityand induces interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). In other words, stimulator of interferon genes(STING)is a key signal transduction molecule of innate immune response in vivo. It’s activated by exogenous DNA, interferon gene stimulator plays an important role in regulating the production of spontaneous anti-tumor immune response in vivo.
