Biological Activity
As a member of the AlkB dioxygenase family, FTO is identified to be the first RNA demethylase that catalyses the demethylation of m6A in an Fe (II)- and 2-oxoglutarate-dependent manner. Later, m6A demethylation was also found to be linked to adipogenesis through FTO-dependent m6A demethylation[1].
