Irregular Menstruation

Irregular menstruation, or menstrual irregularities (MI), encompasses abnormal menstrual cycles including oligomenorrhea, frequently associated with heavy menstrual bleeding due to ovulatory dysfunction. Common underlying causes involve immaturity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis and polycystic ovary syndrome.
