Epiafzelechin
Epiafzelechin is a natural flavane compound that can be isolated from the seeds of Musa balbisiana. Epiafzelechin inhibits the growth of Cryptolestes pusillus and induces its death through toxic effects, rather than via antifeedant activity. Epiafzelechin can be used in studies related to growth inhibition of stored-product pests.

Biologische Aktivität
(+)-Epiafzelechin (compound 4) (10% w/w in diet for 10 days) significantly inhibits the growth of Cryptolestes pusillus and causes 80% mortality; its growth-inhibitory effect is evident at dietary concentrations ≥ 4%, with LD50 values of 7.581% and 6.339% (w/w) at 3 days and 10 days, respectively. Mortality is mainly attributed to direct toxicity rather than antifeedant activity[1].
