CCN1 - cellular communication network factor 1 Gene

Also Known as GIG1; CYR61; IGFBP10

Species: Homo sapiens

Gene Type: protein coding
Gene ID: 3491

About CCN1

Cytogenetic location: 1p22.3 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 1:85,580,761-85,583,950 (from NCBI)

This gene has 6 transcripts (splice variants), 255 orthologues and 5 paralogues. Broad expression in gall bladder (RPKM 285.2), spleen (RPKM 216.9) and 20 other tissues.

Summary

The secreted protein encoded by this gene is growth factor-inducible and promotes the adhesion of endothelial cells. The encoded protein interacts with several integrins and with heparan sulfate proteoglycan. This protein also plays a role in cell proliferation, differentiation, angiogenesis, Apoptosis, and extracellular matrix formation. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
