cyclo-pAKKR

cyclo-pAKKR is a mimetic of the BDNF-binding region of p75^NTR and a p75^NTR agonist. cyclo-pAKKR promotes peripheral neuron survival and peripheral nerve myelination. cyclo-pAKKR, through a p75^NTR-dependent signaling pathway, alleviates demyelination and axonal pathological damage, improves motor function performance in the experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN) model, whereas a control peptide with an altered spatial conformation of the KKR motif does not produce such biological effects. cyclo-pAKKR can be used for research related to autoimmune neuritis.

cyclo-pAKKR (cyclo-DPAKKR) (0.1-10 mg/kg/d; daily intraperitoneal administration) ameliorates disease severity, delays onset, accelerates recovery, elevates myelin basic protein levels, reduces macrophage infiltration and axonal damage, and improves motor function in rodent EAN models, and this effect is abolished in p75^NTR heterozygous mice^[1].
