The NHS ester of m-PEG2-NHS ester is used to label primary amines (-NH2) of proteins, amine-modified oligonucleotides and other amine-containing molecules. The hydrophilic PEG spacer effectively improves solubility in aqueous media. m-PEG2-NHS ester can be used in studies related to bioconjugation with ADC, proteins, peptides and other molecules.

m-PEG2-NHS ester reacts with amino groups of PLL residues to raise surface PEG graft density for improving substrate antifouling performance, but the modification cannot sufficiently inhibit electrostatic-driven BMP2 non-specific binding onto base glass substrate[1].
