Description

SCH 12223 free base is an orally active gastroprotective agent. SCH 12223 free base exhibits gastrointestinal protective action against various noxious stimuli. SCH 12223 free base can be used for research on gastrointestinal diseases[1].

In Vivo

SCH 12223 (0.3-3 mg/kg; p.o. or i.v.) free base inhibits the ethanol-induced rat gastric lesions[1].
SCH 12223 (1-10 mg/kg; p.o.) free base lacks antisecretory activity in the pylorus-ligated rats but increases total gastric mucus[1].
SCH 12223 (10-30 mg/kg; p.o.) free base attenuates rat intestinal lesions provoked by Indomethacin (HY-14397)[1].
SCH 12223 (38 days) free base improves rat survival from Indomethacin lethality[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Rats (ethanol-induced gastric lesions)[1]
Dosage: 0.3 mg/kg; 1 mg/kg; 3 mg/kg
Administration: p.o. or i.v.
Result: Inhibited the ethanol-induced rat gastric lesions.
Animal Model: Rats (pylorus-ligated)[1]
Dosage: 10 mg/kg
Administration: p.o.
Result: Lacked antisecretory activity in the pylorus-ligated rats.
Animal Model: Rats (Indomethacin-induced intestinal lesions)[1]
Dosage: 10 mg/kg; 30 mg/kg
Administration: p.o.
Result: Attenuated rat intestinal lesions.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
