Chancroid

Definition:

Chancroid is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the gram-negative, short, slender bacterium Haemophilus ducreyi. It is a classical genito-ulcerative disease accompanied by inguinal lymphadenitis that is endemic in sub-Saharan Africa. It has generated considerable interest because it is associated as a co-factor for HIV transmission.
