SR 59230 is a β₃-adrenergic receptor antagonist, and its four stereoisomers exhibit biological activity against different β-adrenergic receptor subtypes. SR 59230 partially inhibits lipolysis in rat adipocytes but shows no inhibitory effect on this process in human adipocytes, displaying species selectivity.
