Biological Activity: U 89674 is a nonnucleoside HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitor with no cytotoxic effect on cells at concentrations of 10 μM or lower over 7 days. U 89674 modulates reverse transcriptase activity, interfering with HIV-1 replication. U 89674 inhibits replication of HIV-1 laboratory strains and primary HIV-1 isolates in immune cells. U 89674 delays virus-induced cell killing in mixed cultures of uninfected and HIV-1-infected cells. U 89674 can be used for the research of HIV-1 infection[1].
