Biological Activity: Succinylacetone pyrrole is a potent inhibitor of δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALA dehydratase) with a Ki value of 5 μM. Succinylacetone pyrrole blocks the biosynthetic pathway from ALA to porphobilinogen (PBG) and subsequent porphyrins or corrinoids by competitively binding to ALA dehydratase and inhibiting its activity. Succinylacetone pyrrole can be used for studies on vitamin B12 biosynthesis and its regulatory mechanisms[1].
