Stx3 - syntaxin 3 Gene
Also Known as Syn-3
Species: Mus musculus
Summary
Predicted to enable SNAP receptor activity; SNARE binding activity; and arachidonic acid binding activity. Involved in exocytic insertion of neurotransmitter receptor to postsynaptic membrane and vesicle-mediated transport in synapse. Acts upstream of or within exocytosis; long-term synaptic potentiation; and vesicle fusion. Located in several cellular components, including Schaffer collateral - CA1 synapse; cytoplasmic vesicle; and photoreceptor cell terminal bouton. Part of SNARE complex. Is active in glutamatergic synapse and postsynapse. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; eye; genitourinary system; and respiratory system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in congenital diarrhea. Orthologous to human STX3 (syntaxin 3). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Apr 2022]
