Harzianum A is a trichothecene compound. Harzianum A has no antibacterial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, but has antifungal activity. In addition, Harzianum A is cytotoxic to tumor cells.

Biological Activity
Harzianum A (20-1000 μg/mL; 24 h) has no antibacterial activity against E. coli, B. subtilis, M. luteus and S. aureus at 1 mg/mL, but has antifungal activity against C. albicans and S. cerevisiae at 100 μg/mL[1].
Harzianum A (24 h) is cytotoxic to tumor cells with IC50 of 0.65 μg/mL for HT1080, 5.07 μg/mL for HeLa and 10.13 μg/mL for MCF-7, respectively[2].
