Cellohexaose is a YKL-40 carbohydrate-binding ligand that occupies the primary carbohydrate-binding cleft through carbohydrate-π stacking and hydrogen-bonding interactions, and can serve as a bioinert spacer for hybrid glyco-nanolayers, modulating the surface density of bioactive shell hexaose to enhance TLR2-mediated responses. Cellohexaose is used in research on chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer.

Description
In Vitro
Cellohexaose (300 K; 0.1-250 ns) binds to the main binding cleft of YKL-40, with an absolute free energy of -12.6 kJ/mol[1].
Cellohexaose (1.0 mM) interacts with the Au surface via S-Au coordination bonds, achieving a surface density of 0.811 chains nm-2[6].
Cellohexaose (1.0 mM; 24 h) forms a stable self-assembled monolayer on the Au surface[6].
Cellohexaose (1.0 × 105 cells mL-1; 3-120 h) supports the tight adhesion and 2-D proliferation of HepG2 cells, with the growth rate declining after 72 h[6].
Cellohexaose (1 mM; 3 days) supports lower CYP1A1 activity in HepG2 cells than the mixed nanolayer[6].
