Quilseconazole (VT-1129) is an orally active, highly selective fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme Cyp51 inhibitor that can cross the blood-brain barrier. Quilseconazole prevents the synthesis of ergosterol, an important component of the fungal cell membrane, by inhibiting Cyp51. Quilseconazole has minimal effects on human CYP enzymes.
