Sulfamerazine sodium
Based on 4 publication(s) in Google Scholar
Sulfamerazine (RP2632) sodium is a brain-penetrant and orally active sulfonamide antibiotic and α-synuclein inhibitor with human α-synuclein KD of 352 μM. Sulfamerazine sodium inhibits the synthesis of dihydrofolate by bacteria, thereby inhibiting bacterial growth. Sulfamerazine sodium inhibits α-synuclein fibrillation, reduces α-synuclein aggregation-associated toxicity and α-synuclein aggregate accumulation. Sulfamerazine sodium can be used for the research of Parkinson’s disease and bacterial infection.

Biological Activity
Sulfamerazine (5-25 μM) sodium reproducibly inhibits α-Syn fibrillation[1].
Sulfamerazine (25-100 μM) sodium exhibits a significant reduction in α-Syn aggregation and associated toxicity in Caenorhabditis elegans model of PD[1].
Sulfamerazine (25-200 μM; 24-48 h) sodium is nontoxic to human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells at concentrations up to 100 μM over 24-48 h, with reduced viability observed only at 200 μM[1].
Sulfamerazine (0.31 μM; 24 h) sodium reduces the accumulation of α-Syn aggregates in neuronal SH-SY5Y cells[1].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
