2-Tridecanol is a metabolite that can be found in extra virgin coconut oil, and serves as a growth substrate for Pseudomonas multivorans. 2-Tridecanol can be metabolized by Pseudomonas multivorans and Pseudomonas aeruginosa to produce 2-tridecanone, undecyl acetate, and 1-undecanol, and acts as a metabolic intermediate in their 2-tridecanone catabolic pathway.

2-Tridecanol (0.2-0.3%) is metabolized by Pseudomonas multivorans strain 4G-9 via interconversion to 2-tridecanone, with subsequent production of undecyl acetate and 1-undecanol as key metabolites[1].
2-Tridecanol constitutes 8% of the total free fatty alcohol fraction in aerobically grown Escherichia coli K-12 cells[3].
2-Tridecanol constitutes only 1% of the total free fatty alcohol fraction in anaerobically grown Escherichia coli K-12 cellss[3].
2-Tridecanol (200 ppm) exhibits moderate granary weevil progeny-suppressive activity[5].
