Sitamaquine tosylate inhibits mitochondrial complex II (succinate dehydrogenase). Sitamaquine tosylate is a lipophilic weak base that rapidly accumulates in acidic compartments of Leishmania spp., mainly in acidocalcisomes[1][2].
