Chemical Structure
Catalpalactone
- CAS No.: 1585-68-8
- Formula:C15H14O4
- Molecular Weight:258.27
IUPAC Name: 3-(6,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-3-yl)isobenzofuran-1(3H)-one

SMILES: O=C1OC(C2=CCC(C)(C)OC2=O)C3=C1C=CC=C3
Biological Activity: Catalpalactone has anti-inflammatory effect. Catalpalactone inhibits LPS-induced NO production and iNOS expression in RAW264.7 cells, and also inhibits IRF3, NF-κB, and IFN-β/STAT-1 activation. Catalpalactone also inhibits dopamine biosynthesis by reducing tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and aromatic-l-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) activities[1][2].
