Biological Activity: Piroctone is a potent hydroxypyridone antimicrobial agent that shows remarkable activity against fungi including Candida species. Piroctone inhibits hyphal induction of Candida albicans. Piroctone can efficiently chelate intracellular iron to induce relevant cytotoxicity in neuroblastoma cells. Piroctone can be used for antimicrobial and neuroblastoma research[1][2].
