Biological Activity: 4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenylacetic acid can serve as the main body of insoluble polypeptide. 4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenylacetic acid can react with DEPBT and 4-acetylaniline to form amide intermediates. 4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenylacetic acid is a metabolite produced by the metabolism of flavonoids such as quercetin by colonic microbiota. 4-(Hydroxymethyl)phenylacetic acid significantly inhibits 6-MP oxidation and has no significant inhibition on xanthine oxidation[1][2].
