Corallopyronin A binds to the switch region of RNA polymerase and allosterically blocks the transcription initiation process. Corallopyronin A exhibits in vitro antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative staphylococci, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and the filarial endosymbiont Wolbachia.
