Description

Drimenal is a pimarane-type natural sesquiterpene with antifungal activity. Drimenal inhibits the growth of yeasts and dermatophytes. Drimenal can be used for the development of pesticide candidates and in research related to fungal infections[1][2].

In Vitro

Drimenal-derived chiral oxazinone derivatives exhibit potent antifungal activity against Botrytis cinerea and antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Ralstonia solanacearum, with improved efficacy over the parent compound and positive controls streptomycin sulfate[1].
Drimenal exhibits moderate fungicidal antifungal activity against Candida albicans ATCC 10231, Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCC 9763, Cryptococcus neoformans ATCC 32264, Microsporum gypseum CCC 115, Trichophyton rubrum CCC 113, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes ATCC 9972, with MIC100 values ranging from 31.2 to 125 µg/mL and MIC50 values of 62.5 µg/mL against both C. albicans and C. neoformans[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
