FA2 glycan (G0F) (FA2 N-linked oligosaccharide; F(6)A2 glycan) is a core-fucosylated biantennary N-linked oligosaccharide that serves as a prostate cancer biomarker. The level of FA2 glycan (G0F) is higher in prostate cancer than in benign prostatic hyperplasia, and it is further elevated in advanced prostate cancer with a Gleason score ≥8 compared with both benign prostatic hyperplasia and low-/intermediate-risk prostate cancer. FA2 glycan (G0F) can be used in prostate cancer research.

In clinical trials, the percentage of FA2 increases with the progression of PCa. No significant difference in FA2 composition is observed between patients with BPH and those with low-risk PCa (GS<8), while the FA2 composition in patients with high-risk PCa (GS≥8) is significantly higher than that in patients with BPH and low-risk PCa. FA2 and α2,3-linked sialic acid contents are expected to be effectively used to distinguish high-risk PCa from BPH and low-/intermediate-risk PCa. Compared with healthy controls, the FA2 level in ovarian cancer patients also shows an increasing trend^[1].
