As a virulence factor toxic to rice seedlings, Tropone promotes biofilm formation in Burkholderia plantarii and induces neurotoxicity involving mitochondrial and cytoskeletal damage, increased Ca²⁺ influx, and oxidative stress. Tropone is used in the study of bacterial infections.
