ADAMTS Like 3
ADAMTS Like 3 (ADAMTSL3), also known as punctin-2, is the closest relative of ADAMTSL-1 and shares its architecture, combining thrombospondin type 1 repeats and a disintegrin-like module with no catalytic metalloprotease domain. The protein is secreted and deposited into extracellular matrices, with expression described in heart, vascular tissue and other mesenchymal settings. Like other ADAMTS-like proteins, it is thought to regulate matrix organization and growth factor presentation through binding interactions rather than cleavage, although detailed partners remain under study. Recombinant ADAMTSL3 provides a tool for probing protease-independent matrix organization in cardiovascular contexts.
