DEC-205
DEC-205 (CD205, LY75) is a large endocytic receptor of the mannose-receptor family, distinguished by an extracellular region of ten fibronectin type II repeats preceding two C-type lectin domains. It is expressed on thymic epithelium and on dendritic cells, where it shuttles constitutively between the plasma membrane and late endosomal/lysosomal compartments, delivering captured antigens efficiently to MHC class II loading sites. DEC-205 mediates uptake of apoptotic cells and yeast, and antibody-mediated antigen targeting to DEC-205 has been explored clinically to boost T-cell immunity against tumor and viral antigens. Recombinant DEC-205 is used in vaccine-targeting, antigen-presentation, and tolerance research.
